Bending Behaviour Analysis of Aluminium Profiles in Differential Velocity Sideways Extrusion Using a General Flow Field Model

The work in this paper concerns an analytical model for quantitatively describing the bending behaviour of aluminium profiles produced a novel extrusion process: differential velocity sideways (DVSE), which two opposing rams with v1 and v2 were employed, respectively. was built on basis upper bound theorem utilising general streamline equation controlled by shape factor n, curvature calculated using material flow gradient across die exit orifice. predicted orifice, extrudate agreed well finite element (FE) modelling results, found to be irrespective n equation. For given ratio, minimum value = 2 leads closest theoretical pressure, obtaining best approximated mean effective strain extruded profile increases increase ratio v2/v1, 3.5 gives as whole.

Analysis of Yarn Bending Behaviour
This paper addresses the bending behaviour of individual multi-filament yarns for use in textile forming analyses. Yarn specimens deform nonlinearly under their own weight in a cantilever configuration. A relation between the applied moment and the resulting curvature is established. Numerical simulations are performed to establish the contribution of shear rigidity to the deflection.
